Privacy
This is a personal site. It collects very little, and this page says exactly what, in plain English. No pop-up, because there's nothing here that needs one.
Last updated 15 September 2026The short version
- No cookies are set at all.
- The only data you can give me is an email address, if you join the newsletter or email me
- Nothing is sold, shared for marketing, or used to build a profile of you
- You can ask what I hold and have it deleted, and I'll do it within a week
Who I am
darrenwells.com is run by Darren Wells, trading through Digitopia Design Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales. For anything about your data, email darren@digitopiadesign.com. That address is read by me, not a team.
Digitopia Design Ltd, 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. Registered company number 12037302. ICO data protection register reference ZC160761. Company contact: hello@digitopialabs.com.
What this site collects
Three things, and only if you do something.
- Newsletter signup. If you join The AI Layer, your email address goes to MailerLite, which sends the emails. You'll get a confirmation first, and every email has an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
- Email. If you email me, I keep the conversation for as long as it's useful, the same as anyone would.
- Analytics. Vercel Web Analytics records anonymised page views. It sets no cookies and does not track you between sites, so there is nothing to accept or decline.
The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs - IP address, browser, pages requested - for security and performance. Those are Vercel's logs, kept for a short period, and I don't use them to identify anyone.
What it doesn't do
- No advertising cookies, no retargeting pixels, no social media trackers
- No selling or renting of any data, ever
- No accounts, no logins, no forms beyond the newsletter box
- No embedded video players that set their own cookies
Why I'm allowed to hold it
Under UK GDPR, the newsletter runs on your consent, which you can withdraw by unsubscribing. Replying to your email is a legitimate interest, because you emailed me. Analytics runs on legitimate interest, because it is anonymous and sets no cookies.
Where it goes
MailerLite (email) and Vercel (hosting and analytics) process data on my behalf. Each has its own privacy policy and appropriate safeguards for data that leaves the UK. I don't use anyone else.
How long I keep it
- Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe, then removed from the active list
- Email conversations: reviewed yearly, deleted when no longer relevant
- Analytics: the data that identifies a visitor is discarded within 24 hours, per Vercel's own privacy documentation
Your rights
You can ask what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to how it's used. Email me and I'll respond within a week. If you're not happy with the answer you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
Links to other sites
This site links out a lot - Digitopia Labs, digitopia.app, the side brands, LinkedIn. Each has its own privacy policy and this one stops at the door.
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it. If it's a change that affects you, newsletter subscribers will hear about it by email.
